Sebelum di adakan nya ajang Piala Oscar pada bulan Maret nanti, banyak ajang-ajang penghargaan film dunia yang di gelar, misalnya Golden Globes, Bafta, Critic Choice dan Screen Actors Guilt Awards.
Yang terakhir di gelar hari Sabtu malam 18/1 di Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles adalah Screen Guilt Awards 2014 (SAG) yang menghasilkan film 'American Hustle' sebagai film terbaik. Aktor terbaik di raih Matthew McConaughey di film 'Dallas Lawyer Club', aktris terbaik oleh Cate Blanchett dari film 'Blue Jasmine'. Sementara film yang di produseri oleh aktor Brad Pitt, '12 Years A Slave' meraih piala untuk 'Best Supporting Actress' untuk Lupita Nyong’O, dan 'Best Supporting Actor' oleh Jared Leto di film 'Dallas Lawyer Club'.
