Semakin terlihat matang di usianya ke 20, Selena Gomez hadir sebagai cover majalah Teen Vogue edisi September 2012.
Sementara untuk kariernya sebagai penyanyi, Selena memberikan bocoran kalo album terbarunya sedang di produksi, dan gadis asal Texas ini menjadikan sesuatu yang beda dan akan bernuansa lebih dewasa di album barunya nanti.
"It's going to be different — a little older but still really fun." Ujar Selena.

Selena yang udah dewasa mulai menjajaki kariernya sebagai aktris dalam film-film yang lebih dewasa, seperti Di film, "Monte Carlo" yang rilis tahun kemarin dan "Spring Breakers" ditahun ini. Menurutnya film ini menjadi langkah baik baginya untuk merubah Imej anak lucu di Disney Channel yang membesarkan nama nya. Di film "Monte Carlo", Selena bermain bersama Leighton Meester dan Cory Monteith, sedangkan di "Spring Breakers", Selena beradu akting dengan bintang Disney lain, Vanessa Hudgens.
"Monte Carlo was a good step for me at the time, but I would never want to do something like that again."

"Being part of the Disney Channel was such a blessing, and I'm super happy with what my show accomplished, but acting is something I would like to take on more seriously. I don't necessarily feel accomplished. I want to create a whole different persona when it comes to acting."
